Las funciones de variable compleja pueden presentar singularidades de varios tipos: polos, singularidades esenciales, fronteras y otras más. Hablaremos de un teorema que describe el tipo de singularidades que estas funciones presentan cuando son soluciones de una ecuación diferencial ordinaria (algebraica) de segundo orden.

Resumen:

Las funciones de Igusa-Todorov clasicas fueron introducidas, en el 2005, como una herramienta básica para el estudio de la dimensión finitista. En esta charla, hablaré sobre algunos aspectos homológicos de dichas funciones. Por otro lado, presentaré la generalización de dichas funciones a contextos mas generales y sus conexiones con homología relativa.

Abstract:

Choreographic solutions of the N-body problem are solutions where the bodies follow each other around a closed path, after with the famous figure 8 solution discovered by Chenciner and Montgomery in 2000. I will discuss the possible symmetry types of these motions and the topology of each symmetry class. This is joint work with Katie Steckles.

Abstract:

Crowdsourcing refers to performing a task using human workers that solve sub-problems that arise in the task. In this talk I will give an overview of crowdsourcing, focusing on how crowdsourcing can help traditional data processing and analysis tasks. I will also give a brief overview of some of the crowdsourcing research we have done at the Stanford University InfoLab.
